Dinner at Porridge Time Cafe

At the basement of a megamall of 1 Utama in Petaling Jaya, is a gem of a cafe called Porridge Time Cafe as can be seen in the photos above. This is the front view to the cafe full of wooden furniture of tables and stools.

The is the ambiance and you can see, almost all things are wooden except for the cutleries. Being a weekend, it was full of diners who patronize here frequently. The place is usually packed with people due to its affordable yet delicious food.

This is Porridge Time Cafe menu with a selection of choices to pick from just a single page. I ordered a few dishes for myself and my partner. There is a wide repertoire of food to choose from with many selections of various porridges of different ingredients and drinks.

Here was my order of grouper porridge even though the sliced grouper was hidden by the porridge. There were generous portions of it. The porridge was boiled for a long time until the rice beads almost become liquid in a thick gravy.

I ordered extra 'HK Choy Sum' or also known as Chinese flowering cabbage according to Wikipedia. Choy Sum is a Cantonese name for green leafy vegetable, similar to 'kailan' that is usually used in Chicken Rice Shop and topped with oyster sauce.

Above was my partner's order of fish cake noodle soup consisting of fu chok, fish cake, choy sum, spring onions and springy noodles like wan ton noodles. The soup was a bit salty though, but nevertheless, I finished it leaving the noodles after my partner had his share.

If you are interested to try this place, the address is as below:

Address: Bandar Utama LG113A, Lower Ground Floor,
One Utama Shopping Centre, 1, Lebuh Bandar Utama,
47800 Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

Buffet Breatkfast at Vouk Hotel Suites

This is the ambience of the restaurant at Vouk Hotel Suites for buffet breakfast from 6:30am to 10:30am on the second floor. The furniture is rather attractive and the place has about 20-30 tables for guests. It is divided into partitions for more privacy.

You cannot go wrong when you book a place to stay at hotels owned by MBI, which happens to be the owner of the just opened M Mall in Penang Times Square this year. The head honcho of this conglomerate is Mr Teddy Teoh himself, who has made good in China and returned to Penang to develop the island state.

Above are croissants, chocolate muffins, pastries, velvet cake with topped with butter cream, buns, various spreads like jams and butter. There is also another counter with the mains like nasi lemak and the usual sambal anchovies, sliced cucumber, halved hard-boiled eggs, and roasted nuts. Another counter was set up just for salads with dressings for the health conscious. Cut fruits were also available like watermelon, honeydew, orange wedges and apples. It was continental food for the taking.

We also had sausages, baked beans, noodles, eggs, etc. from the main buffet spread counter. The food was not too bad and had a plethora of various foods for the hotel guests. It comes with free WiFi and buffet breakfast all included in the hotel stay per night of RM 201, inclusive of GST and other miscellaneous charges that were absorbed by the hotel. The stay was short for one night over the Hari Raya Holidays from 6th to 7th July 2016 recently.

Today is a Saturday

Hari Raya is just over and my youngest sister who works in an MNC, took advantage of the long holidays including over the weekend to travel by bus to Kuala Lumpur and fly back to Penang with her church friends. Today is a Saturday, and I am busy pounding the keyboard to update my many blogs. With pictures added, it has kept me busy editing the pictures, resizing them and cropping up unwanted images. My life certainly revolves around working with the computer, be it a holiday or a working day. And work is just a simple walk to the next room in my cozy condominium. I just came back from a 1 night stay at Vouk Hotel that was recently opened by MBI, the owner of M Mall in Penang Times Square. It was during my birthday on the 6th of July.

Dark Mansion - 3D Glow in the Dark Museum

Dark Mansion is not what you would think it is. Far from vampires, ghouls, etc. In fact, it is the friendly 3D Glow in the Dark Museum where you can bring along your children. It is a world of magic and fantasy and touted to be one of the trendiest modern art museums as it integrates science and technology with arts.

Photo with troll dolls - those with colourful standing hair and beady eyes. Aren't they cute? They were very popular in the 1980s.

Having a hand at pulling 'Teh Tarik' which means pulled tea in Malay. Just don an apron and walk behind a room with the pictures pasted on glass and put your hands at the right places and you look like a maestro in making teh tarik.

Climbing a giant Rubik's cube. Well it is all a matter of perspective and magical illusion during the photo taking. Simply place your feet at the right places with your arms outstretched and voila! - looks like you are better than doing rock climbing.

When the light fades off, special living creatures might come alive. Let’s see if you could identify the hidden creatures.

The artwork “Water and Fire” is a work of the famous Edgar Müller, the master street painter, who has brought 3-D illusion street painting to another level by incorporating technology in art. Be ready for a big surprise when the light changes from a waterfall to molten lava in volcanoes.

See the hanging gardens of Pandora forest as in the award-winning movie, Avatar. It is the placements of mirrors around the room that gives the illusion of infinity and lots of suspended jellyfish. For more information, check the details below:
