Next year is the year of the Dog

I shall be 48 next year in the zodiac year of the dog. Good riddance to the cockerel. Now coming back from New Zealand, I have many newspapers to catch up, unpacking and the like. Also, more than 50 tax invoices to input to the cloud system to create Purchase Receive to claim from customs. I have also stopped going to church as it is no longer conducive for me to attend ever since that fanatic married to another woman spouse of mine yelled at me in church and he gives RM 1000 / week and now reduced to RM 500 / week! Thinking that God will cancel off his bankruptcy debts. He had 3 legal charges against him, and could no longer travel to the UK since he overstayed as a student when his visa expired and he did not bother to renew it. So, he has been blacklisted from travelling to the UK!

Sixth Miss World win draws India level with Venezuela

An Indian medical student was crowned Miss World at a glitzy event in a Chinese resort on Saturday, making her country the joint-most successful in the beauty pageant’s history.

Manushi Chhillar is the sixth Indian winner of the long-running contest, following in the footsteps of Bollywood actresses Priyanka Chopra and Aishwarya Rai.

Her win brings India level with Venezuela as the countries with most victories in the history of the pageant, now in its 67th edition.

Chhillar, 20, is a trained Indian classical dancer who also enjoys painting and hopes to open a chain of non-profit hospitals in rural areas, according to the Miss World website.

"Thank you, everyone, for your constant love, support,” and prayers she wrote on Twitter. “This one’s for India.”

Chhillar’s victory rapidly became a top trending topic on the social media platform in India after the announcement, with Manohar Lal Khattar -- the minister of her home state of Haryana -- among the first to offer congratulations.

Chhillar was handed the crown by last year’s winner, Stephanie del Valle of Puerto Rico, at the ceremony in the Chinese coastal city of Sanya on Saturday night.

Stephanie Hill of England and Andrea Meza of Mexico finished as runners-up.

Saturday marked the Miss World pageant’s return to Sanya, on southern China’s Hainan Island, for the seventh time, where the event was last held in 2015.

At the previous occasion two years ago, controversy erupted as officials in Hong Kong stopped Miss Canada, Anastasia Lin, from boarding a plane bound for Sanya, telling her she would not receive a visa.

The 25-year old actress claimed the decision was due to her stance on China’s human rights record, including its persecution of Falun Gong, a Chinese spiritual group of which she is a practitioner.

At last year’s event in the United States, Lin was again embroiled in controversy when pageant officials reportedly warned her against speaking to the press for three weeks about human rights abuses in China.

Lin did not participate in this year’s event, with Canada represented instead by Cynthia Menard, a high school student.

Paying for Advertisements

My full-time job is now subsidising for my part-time e-commerce store and advertisements. I even had a book published on Amazon since 2014 with a few sales. Not enough to bring in the constant dough, even though I had paid thousands to self-publish. Quite soon, I have to create calendars again to send out to 50 existing clients and no longer print out 100 copies and send to poor clubs in the villages with no finances to install sports courts. Hence, should my partner retires, then I can fully concentrate on my e-commerce store and bring it to the next level and millionaire sales.

So much to learn about e-commerce

Setting up your own Shopify store is not sufficient to bring in the big bucks. You need a mentor like Mike Young or someone that he had coached to bring you to the next level of success! All of us need mentors! Warren Buffet had his mentor, and so did many other successful billionaires and businessmen. I am considering of investing in a mentor to help set up my Shopify store which is currently a general store and scale it up 3 - 4 times the revenue. At the same time, I might consider hiring a virtual assistant to help me in this e-commerce as I have a full-time job that is lucrative working for a friend in a home office.

Leia is so adorable

Leia is now 6 months old. Her old teeth dropped and now replaced with new ones that grow in 2 rows. She playfully bites which does not hurt anymore unlike the time when she was a puppy. She is learning fast and can do a few commands like sit, paw, and down. She is now fatter with more fur on her tail and I just love stroking the pelt. She also takes tube vitamins, on top of her kibbles and tin food that are more delicious and come in various flavours. She was panting hard after some exercise around the condo and climbing up 3 storeys of stairs!

I love my Pet Puppy and 4 Bunnies

Now I have very good social life! LOL. I have a pet puppy that won a prize and 2 pure white Holland Lop bunnies named Snowy and Snow. And 2 brown Holland Lop mized with Long Haired Angora bunnies, named Brownie and Brown or Tom as affectionately called by my pet boarder, since he is very active and followed Leia's behaviour of digging vigorously on the floor. They cannot complain to you nor put you down unlike human beings! All they need is food and maintenance and you get love, friendship and loyalty in return. The financial cost and manual labour is all borned by my spouse.

I am not Overwhelmed

I may be hustling daily doing my full time work in a home office while moonlighting on the sides in my free time like blogging, microjobs, updating ecommerce store, writing articles, etc. There will be something to do every month or every day and work can never finish. I am a workahholic. And I enjoy it, which gives me a sense of power and prestige that I am still able to earn my own money albeit the small amount compared to my full time job which requires weekly travelling. My boss is already in his retirement age, at 66 and counting. He is very productive and hustling daily, praying daily for everyone and the company. May God bless us with protection and ability to create wealth

So many articles to write now

There are more than 20 articles to write in the Trip101 dashboard admin. And I just set up my Shopify store with lots of finetuning to be done and some investment in marketing via Facebook or Adwords. Work will never finish and there will be more and new ones daily. I work from morning till night while taking naps in between work in the afternoon, especially after lunch. I used free pictures from pixabay for the banner in my Shopify store and create my own logo. This is just the beginning and I added the app Beeketing to it which works very well with my store.

Working on a Holiday

Today may be a holiday, but I have some office work to do; printing out company profile, brochures, etc for tommorrow's meeting. Then, I receive a call from a client requesting for more information. Another existing client wanted another quotation, etc. And another wanted the compliance forms be changed before issueing LA. I also updated old blogs and try to maintain them regularly. I also shoot Nuffnang an email to collaborate further. I know some are getting very good gifts like VW car for free and get to blog about the features! Such lucky souls!

My Pup has More Fur

Leia, my 4+ months Pomeranian puppy has grown up a bit with longer fur and her tail looks bushy now, instead of a skinny skeleton with barely a fur. She is so cute and cannot do no wrong. I just love stroking her pelt and she loves being massaged. So far, neighbours are understanding and no one complaint of her incessant barks in the wee hours of the morning and at night. She is an investment and a very good companion to the lonely soul. She makes the best friend one can have and a loyal furry kid. The friendship we get back in return, no money can buy. She is now part of the family.

Shopify

I am a bit interested in signing up for Shopify and try the free 30-day trial. After watching a video on how to integrate Oberlo which is an app to link to AliExpress for the dropshipping, I find it easy peasy to set up the free theme like Wordpress, set up the payment gateway like Paypal (By the way, Shopify Payment is not accepted in Malaysia yet) and adding in the products from Aliexpress based on your interests, you are ready to go. It is better to set up a general store first, before choosing the niche products. But it is rather costly at USD 25 per month of usage despite its user-friendliness.

Had a Restful Holiday at Paradise Hotel

Yesterday afternoon, my partner and I checked into Hotel Paradise along Tanjung Bungah using the voucher for a free night stay. We invited my parents and youngest sister along using the pay for 3 adults, free for 2 voucher which cost RM 79.50 each adult. Hence after considering the free meals, it cost around RM 46 per adult for 5 persons with buffet dinner. There were plenty of flower crabs in thick gravy that was sumptuous plus a host of other dishes, desserts, drinks, ice kacang, salads, soups, etc.

The views were also good; we had seaview and hill view. I also took photos of the tennis court that we completed for the website in ture and for updating it. My youngest sis went alone to Quayside to swim and do the laundry for me as well. She's a nice girl and responsible. Now I hope the factories in Penang won't close due to Trump's policies or other matters that linger such as the political landscape.

My Skype is not working

I had my interview cancelled this afternoon as my Skype microphone driver was apparently muted which I don't know how to make it work. From advice, I bought a headset cum microphone with a single 3.5 jack for $55 downstairs at Times Square and discovered that you can buy the converter from a single jack to double jack - one for speaker (pink coded), the other for microphone (green coded) and vice versa. The converter cost is between $10 to $20. If it still does not work, then I might have to summon the technician to come up to my unit and troubleshoot the problem as this has been a nagging problem for a long time.

Chinese New Year Decoration at Da:Men

Above is a photo taken at Da:Men shopping mall in Subang Jaya. Da:Men is managed by a high end mall operator and this helped to propped up the price of the condo units starting at RM 500k before the mall was set up to RM 900k now at market rate. The decorations were well prepared that served as eye candy to shoppers and patrons. The God of Prosperity stands right in the center with large coin and flowers embellishments. It was very attractive and even though Chinese New Year may officially be over, the expensive decorations remain.

Chap Goh Meh is the Chinese version of Valentine's Day where single women will throw mandarin oranges into the sea in the hopes of finding a suitor on a sampan to catch the fruits. Above were plastic roses sold at Da:men and it is not so big an affair compared to the one in Penang where fresh roses in bouquets are sold exorbitantly and yet many sales are made specially on this day.

Internet Marketing

I woke up at 5:30am this morning, fire up the laptop to learn new stuffs online but I am still feeling drowsy. I know I had to do something about it and pick up new skills online via video trainings of Get Response with many features like autoresponder, newsletters, webinars, etc. Milking the internet cash cow is possible but you also must not be lazy and work smart. 20% of the results is due to 80% of the work from the 80/20 rule. Sometimes I beg to differ, as I could also be meeting the right people who could mentor you and fast track your income exponentially with success stories like Patrick Chan, his student Gerald Soh, etc. With internet marketing platforms like Facebook, Google Adwords, LinkedIn, etc, reaching the masses in a short number of time is now possible.

Need to Create Paypal Subscription

My regular client just cancelled my paypal subscription and wants me to create a new one with lower price as he will advertise on my PR 2 site with only 2 links instead of 3. The old Paypal was more user friendly with more features on one's account. Now with the new Paypal, I have to search around with no results. I did a search on internet how to create a paypal subscription for monthly pay but it was the old system that was shown on Youtube. So, I had no choice but to send an email to request for the steps to Paypal via their helpdesk. This client has been with me for the last 2+ years and every month, I get passive income, albeit 2 hundred ringgit just for the advertisement links on my niche site of website designing.

Flying to KL Tomorrow Morning

I have to wake up at 5:15am tomorrow in order to leave the place by 6:00am to catch a flight with boarding time at 7:35am to Kuala Lumpur. My partner has an interview with an architect and on Saturday, we will head off to Mandarin Oriental Hotel to stay using the last 50% Elite Club Voucher that expires in February 2017. My spouse has already renewed the Elite Club membership for $888 for another year. After checking out, we will head to my small condo in Rhythm Avenue to rest before catching a plane back to Penang in the evening. I just pray for journey mercies and that the interview would be successful.

Secret Recipe and Decorations

Secret Recipe is a fusion restaurant serving local Malaysian delights and Western food. Above is Caribbean Fish Fillet of Dory fish, grilled and topped with a generous dollop helping of mint butter sauce for a gastronomic taste to the senses. It is paired with vegetables on the side consisting of julienne purple cabbage, cherry tomatoes, Romaine lettuce and a slice of lime to go with the seafood. Fried French fries are added for carbohydrate to complement the meal for a fuller feeling on the stomach.

Here is a phletora of potted colourful orchids as eye candy along the aisle of Gurney Plaza Mall prior to Chinese New Year to draw in the crowds and tourists who can be big spenders during this festive season, with Christmas being recently over and the dawn of the year of the fire rooster. One can never go wrong with lots of flowers to pull in the crowds and customers' money. The green leaves are easy and relaxing on the tired eyes after a big round of shopping to hunt for bargains. But being a premier shopping mall in Penang, Gurney Plaza is not the place for bargaining and most of the prices displayed are fixed already.

Above is a photo of myself with my spouse taken yesterday at the premier shopping mall after our dinner at Secret Recipe Restaurant which has a promotion of a free slice of cake and a cuppa of coffee for meals over $50 using any of the UOB credit cards. It is valid until end of April 2017. There was a full page advertisement on The Star newspaper yesterday on UOB credit card promotion at Secret Recipe and I took the opportunity to dine here having owned the credit card myself. You can pay the outstanding bills online and check via their website on the amount owed and due date for all the UOB credit cards that you may have.

Happy New Year 2017

This is the day time shot of the Chinese New Year decorations of the Rooster in 2017 of M-Mall in Penang Times Square. After the Year of the Monkey comes the Year of the Fire Rooster which will start on January 28, 2017 – the second New Moon after the Solstice. Roosters were very important in people's daily lives in ancient times. They were not only treated as food, like today, but in ancient times people regarded them as a mascot since they ate harmful insects.

This is also part of the new year decoration with some animals to cheer up and decorate the festivity, especially for children and toddlers. M-Mall in Penang Times Square is a happening place in Georgetown. It is the only Condo resort right smack in the heart of the city of Penang. Recently, it hosted the FMM channel of Astro for the Chinese yuppies and they simply loved to see their idols performed and sang on New Year countdown 2 days ago.

One will be spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping for goods, tit-bits, scarves, perfumes, clothes, shoes and much more. China tourists come by the bus loads to Times Square for their shopping and to redeem their M Points collected from the investment. They can redeem at restaurants for meals or to buy souvenirs back home.

This is also taken at Times Square near Phase 1 called Birch the Plaza condominium. The red lanterns certainly light up the dark skies with pink cherry blossoms decorated on the sides. The flowers brighten up the place and make it more merry.

Fireworks were aplenty shooting and lighting up the night skies with showers of sparks that expands and then fades away. Times Square was very crowded with revelers on the last day of 2016 as they usher in 2017 with aplomb. If you are considering where to spend your Chinese New Year, why not come to Penang Times Square to see the painted ceilings, walls and many beautiful works of art of decorations on the walls. There are also several hotels nearby like Sunway Hotel which is just 3 minutes walk to Times Square other than many other smaller hotels nearby - all within walking distance.
